Taking Our Historic Building In A Green Direction
Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 08:04AM We start work this week to renovate a portion of our offices in the historic Stone Store building on Battery Street in Burlington. The Stone Store building has been a fixture of the Burlington commercial district since the mid-1800s. The University of Vermont's Historic Preservation Program researched the history of the building back to its first construction in 1827 (click here to read a short history of the building by UVM graduate students). We own the building and we are proud of its charm. We enjoy the beauty and energetic bustle of our waterfront location, and especially our lakeview offices and conference rooms. The renovation will transform the Third Floor - North area of our offices and our current Perkins waterfront conference room into a spectacular space to accommodate larger meetings, overlooking Perkins Pier and Lake Champlain. The plan was developed by architects Truex, Cullins & Partners, our downstairs neighbor in the building. One of the exciting aspects of the project is that it utilizes green materials and current socially responsible office practices, such as maximizing natural light for each work space. Old buildings are unavoidably LEED-challenged, and the renovation is an opportunity to do what we can to incorporate sustainable building practices into our business. We look forward to welcoming our clients and friends of the firm in the new space when it is ready to be occupied in a few months.
