Lt. Gov. Brian Dubie's "Green Valley" Speech - March 2006 - Where Are We Now?

 
On March 9, 2006 Lt. Governor Brian Dubie spoke on Vermont's "Green Valley" initiative at the Energy and Environment Symposium sponsored by the Vermont Journal of Envirnomental Law at Vermont Law School.  He described the Green Valley initiative and catalogued green businesses that already were flourishing in Vermont.  He discussed the role of the UVM Center for Emerging Technologies in supporting private busineses commercializing innovative ideas.  The speech can be found at the web site of the Lt. Governor's office, www.ltgov.vermont.gov/speeches.   The businesses featured in the Lt. Governor's speech are still going strong in Vermont today:  Northern Power Systems (alternative energy electric power systems), NRG (wind energy measurement technology), Green Mountain Power (alternative energy sources), CVPS ("Cow Power"), Washington Electric Cooperative (methane electric power) (General Dynamics (hydrogen fuel cells).  The Lt. Governor acknowledged government agencies and municipalities working on green energy projects, including the City of Burlington (McNeil wood burning power plant), Efficiency Vermont, Vt. Dept. of Public Service, Vt. Economic Progess Council, Vt. Dept. of Economic Devt., Vt. Economic Devt. Authority.   It would be interesting to update the profile of the Green Valley businesses to see what has changed since March 2006, with these companies and other newcomers to the scene.
